There will be a charity tournament on
Saturday, Dec. 6 at Pelican Point Golf Club in Gonzales, La., to
benefit the Robert B.J. Barker Lung Transplant Fund. The tourney
will start at 8:30 a.m., with check-in starting at 7 a.m.
Barker is a Cystic Fibrosis patient that is
awaiting a life-saving double-lung transplant. The tournament is
limited to 30 teams and the cost to play is $400 per four-person
team. There are also various sponsorship levels available. For

LGA INTERSHIP APPLICATION PERIOD
EXTENDED UNTIL DEC. 1
The Louisiana Golf Association has extended its application period for
the 2009 USGA P.J. Boatwright Internship in Golf Administration to Dec.
1. The internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in the golf
administration field and will work out of the LGA office in Lafayette.
The post includes working with tournament administration, course
ratings, handicapping and other duties for the state association, and
includes a one-week national seminar at USGA headquarters in New Jersey.

The Second Annual The
University Cup will be held on Nov. 22 at The Bridges Golf Club
The tourney starts at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start.
The University Cup, formally The Egg Cup, is an annual golf challenge
held at The Bridges played in November and pits die-hard fans from
universities all over the country. Last year’s 18-hole event was won by
Ole Miss. The event is limited to the first eight paid teams, which may
consist up to six players. Each team will use the four lowest net scores
of the six players for the team total. All players will receive 50
percent of their verifiable handicap.
The entry fee is $65 per player and includes green
fees, cart fee, range balls and hors d’oeuvres at the clubhouse grill.
HGP Corporate Members and PGA Club Professionals can enter the
